Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Impressions
Please Note: This is not a Review, as Monster Hunter games take a lot of time to get through and I myself have not had all the time that I wanted to go through the game.
First thing's first, this is the most unique playing monster hunter to date.
From playing this game for a few minutes (as well as gameplay spoils from the demo) the difference is noticeable, that is... When you start to play it.
As soon as you begin the game, you're put on this ship and you fight a Jhen wannabe with no weapon or health to lose so it's pretty much a tutorial on how to move and run.. Boring, but a series first to bring cinematics into gameplay that works really well for its first try.
For the first few stars of quests, this game still holds your hand with its tutorials... 4 games in and it bombards you with more tutorials than Tri/3U.
Get through all of the tutorials (not the training quests) and then the game finally opens up to you as fight are much more fast paced than any monster hunter game.
Ledges and small hills provide an intense amount of mobility and attack options that makes the combat a bit easier than prior MH games, but the monsters are also more aggressive this time around (And I haven't even reached High rank just yet).
On my current playthrough, I am currently using the Greatsword, which is notoriously known as the slowest weapon in monster hunter, and I'm having a blast with it, as it feels greatly improved in power and versatility with the new mechanics.
I'm looking forward to reviewing the game (which may happen eventually) and as much as I enjoy monster hunter, I will be brutal.
If you have any questions about the game, feel free to ask me about it.

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Impressions
In short, I am loving as almost everything has been improved; however any problems I have with it were probably also the same problems they had in previous games that they have not yet fixed.
(For example: Monsters should not be able to enter door-ways where the player can not reach them)

Just be glad the Monsters don't transfer areas when they do that. XD

Made Dah'ren Mohran my bitch!
Now I'm in High Rank... and the quests are a bit intimidating.

Still low rank. Mostly doing the village quests-I don't want to go online until I have a decent set of armor.

Re: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Impressions
I'm liking the Frenzied monsters in this game.
More aggressive, different move patterns, etc.
As awesome as they are fierce.
Also, got full High Rank Zinogre armor, and gemmed in in Speed Sharpening and Capture Guru.
Razor Sharp with speed sharpening is nice to have.
I want Azure Rathalos Armor for Razor Sharp and Ear Plugs. Plus it gives Critical Eye...
