Also; we all know this will be more available closer to release. Lots of Nintendo Limited Edition handhelds are found months after release. The Zelda one is still in some stores. Plus if you are really desperate, just buy it off Nintendo's website

The 3DS resolution is 400x240 (or 800x240 when in 3D). Though tiny as fuck, the OG 3DS screens were perfect size for that resolution. 3DS XL has significantly bigger screens, yes, but 3DS resolution is 400x240 so the image quality suffers due to the lower ppi.

TL;DR, picture quality is worse on XL because the resolution is exactly the same and still meant for the tiny OG screens. Kinda like enlarging a pic in photoshop, it gets bigger, sure, but it also looks shitty.
