Hey! Anyone with technical expertise! quick question: first look at this image

The one on the far right is a faulty cable for the atari 2600. the other 2 are newer versions but still pretty much the same thing. Do you see how long the middle metal prongs are? Would it be a good idea to cut them shorter or no?
