Re: Gen Chat 02: Ω Version
To any MH4u Players, would guys mind proof reading/give feedback for the rough draft of a mini-guide I have been working on? Mounting in particular?
- Spoiler:
- Mini-Guide: Mounting.
Mounting is a new game mechanic to the Monster Hunter series in which players can briefly mount a monster and try to topple it, allowing them and other players to deal additional damage to the monster in question.
How to topple a Monster:
In order to mount a monster a player must first strike its torso a few times with an aerial attack. Aerial attacks are classified as any physical attack used by the player while he or she is in mid air. In order to get airborne the player will have to jump off of a ledge or wall and follow up with an attack while they are still in mid air. Some weapons such as as the Lance and Insect Glaive have vaulting abilities that allow the player to initiate a jump attack without the need for a ledge or wall. Successful aerial attacks on a monster are indicated by a yellow spark instead of the usual blood splatter. Much like status effects, each of these attacks fills up hidden meter that determines when the monster can be mounted; after striking the monster from above enough times to fill up the meter the monster will fall over for a few seconds and the meter will reset with a higher cap than before. While the monster is down the player will automatically mount it if they are in range; Be sure to capitalize on this, as if the player fails to mount a monster before it stands back up they will have to start again from scratch! Likewise due to the increased meter cap it will be more difficult to mount the monster a second time regardless of whether the player was able to successfully topple it or not!
Once you successfully mount the monster, you will being a minigame in which a small bar is placed across the middle of the screen; on the left side of the bar is a green meter followed by a dragons head that is eating it; The goal of this minigame is to raise the green meter to the far right side of the bar before the dragon head eats all of it; successfully reaching the far right side will topple the monster for a lengthy amount of time and potentially damage the part of the monster you had mounted, while letting the dragon head eat the bar will cause you to fail the minigame and let the monster throw you off its back and waste the effort put into mounting it. The green bar will start at different lengths depending on the condition of the monster at the time the player mounted it: It will start 60% if the monster is exhausted, 50% if has no status conditions or moods, and 40% if it enraged. In order to raise the green meter rapidly press the "X" button as fast as possible to cause your hunter to repeatedly stab the monster, but only do so when the dragons head is green. If the monster starts trying to shake you off the dragons head will turn red and will begin to rapidly eat away at your green bar; to fight back against this stop attacking and hold down on the right shoulder button instead, this will cause your hunter to hang on to the monster and slow the rate at which it consumes your green bar, changing the dragons head from red to orange. Keep in mind that holding onto the monster will cause your stamina meter to be quickly drained, and if it is drained completely your hunter will be automatically thrown off.
Advanced Tips:
-While it is a good idea hit the monster with aerial attacks whenever the opportunity arises, don't go out of your way to mount a monster if it costs you additional damage or time that could be better spent attacking the monster normally. By optimizing your attacks you will do better in the long run.
-Monsters toppled by mounting will stay down for a bit longer than when they are knocked over by ordinary damage; use this knowledge to your advantage by saving topples for when you or your team can inflict the most damage possible!
-The earplugs skills along with their disposable counterparts allow hunters to ignore the roars of monsters, conveniently this also holds true when monsters roar to trying shake you off; this gives you an extra bit of free time that you can try to topple a monster while it wastes its breath screaming at you.
-All monsters have a tell immediately prior to trying to throw you off and tend to adjust the camera slightly giving you a cue to react; keep your eyes peeled for these tells and learn each of them for the various monsters in the game. Capitalizing on them with allow you to maximize your efforts in the mini game and make it very easy to topple a monster without being thrown off, so use them to your advantage!
-When a teammate mounts a monster consider not attacking for a few seconds and tending to other matters such as sharpening your weapon, healing yourself, or restoring your stamina. While it is possible to damage the monster without knocking off the player mounting it, it is incredibly difficult to do so effectively as a single missed attacked can send them flying and while causing the monster to flinch for any reason can have the same effect.
-The meter that determines when a monster can be mounted is exclusive to that monster and not any of the players. This means that players efforts to mount a monster are cumulative, with this in mind work with your team to topple the monster at the ideal time.

Re: Gen Chat 02: Ω Version
I don't understand some of your guys' concerns? First off, making a CR account is as simple as one two three and it's perfect way to gather more people.
If you want more people on WSS this is the way to do it. Please give it some thought.
A Youtube channel? But it's not like we're all going to be making videos and there's no threads anything there. It'd just be us doing our thing while other people just kind of post comments to our stuff and that's it. That's not really recruiting. Also it's not like many people are going to watch our videos to be honest and it's not like they're going to wanna join WSS.
Squirrel and I could make the WSS group ourselves and we could even make Mazer admin of it if he joins. Crunchyroll groups are literally just like GT factions.

It's not like we should abandon this forum, but rather just expand our horizons a bit here.
We can balance both of them I think. We can just keep the homies in this forum and still have our private discussions here, but over on CR is where we can start recruiting more people and start having more active discussions, events, and such. Who knows, you may even find people to help with some of the projects some of you are working on.
Squirrel and I will make the group and you guys can see what it's like. It'll be very cool and we all can manage it ourselves.

Here's a FAQ on CR groups. Mazer, I'd say it's best if you start it so you have the title of "creator" from the get-go.
http://www.crunchyroll.com/help?topic=groups
Also this is what it looks like when you're starting the group. The question is though, do you want to make it closed or secret:

- Probably mention that weapons like Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Hammer, and Great Sword can launch players in the air, and those who are sent flying can perform a mount attack.
Also mention that the "tells" that the monster gives while mounting is not a repeated pattern. It can mix the pattern up.
Palico can also aid in mounting if their Forte is Launching. They can both send you into the air and increase the mounting bar. They also deal mounting damage to help make mounting easier.
If you find yourself unable to finish mounting the monster, dismount by holding back and press B. Less landing lag compared to being forced off.

It'll be very cool and we all can manage it ourselves.
making an account is super easy there, there is a free 2 week trial for watching new anime but you don't have to take it, like loom said we don't have to abandon this place it would just be a way to meet new people for the wss. And Loom I will help out as co founder if we make one.
