From what I can tell, Bayonetta's dodge only takes damage when you activate it too late, leaving a window in which you take reduced damage but no smash damage from enemy attacks.

I thought that was only for the Down B though.
You see, at the VERY start of rolling/dodging, there's a moment where Bayonetta does a perfect doge mechanic exclusive to her. It slows down the opponent a little bit, but in turn hurts her(usually by 3-5 points of damage).

Both her dodge and the end of her counter have this ability.

I had a dream where I was part of the Venture Brothers cartoon. WHALE was hunting down Dr Venture in this huge cavern meeting room and I teamed up with Girlfriend and Monarch to hide Venture behind holograms. They saw through it though and suddenly the room was filled to the brim with villains all arguing about the new guild.

One guy was named Anakin Anakin who went emo and became a fire elemental of hate so Brock turned into a purple gorilla beast and I was getting pissed because now the Venture Brothers was just getting stupid

So I leave and I join the lady at this beach resort town. We find this grove with a beach and chairs and we lounge there and discover that the beach is slowly tilting into the water. At first we don't care because we are watching the whales and orcas and seals and seal lions and lampreys swim but suddenly the beach goes all the way into the water (at a 90 degree angle) and we are swimming.

A seal grabs me from behind and jams its claws deep into my chest. I rip it away and stop another one from attacking the lady. I get a lamprey bite on the leg and suddenly every creature in the water notices us.

We get on shore and head to the first aid station where, upon realizing we were attacked by a seal, we were quarantined in a pet shop that was very unethical in the treatment of their animals so we started a lawsuit

then I woke up.
