Nah, a 4chan thread would have people calling you an n-word or an f-word.smirkytrick wrote:This thread is devolving into a 4chan thread.

That's is true. I was just basing it on the whole fetishes and awkward backstory with the fetishes.Cybersix wrote:Nah, a 4chan thread would have people calling you an n-word or an f-word.smirkytrick wrote:This thread is devolving into a 4chan thread.

what was awkward about it!
@ Luna
Meh...so sick of this gender movement...
Re: Gen Chat VI: R.I.P. Satoru Iwata
Right! I'd give you the second 2, trans male/female, but it's ridiculous now.

Re: Gen Chat VI: R.I.P. Satoru Iwata
I heard that's the proper way to address a tran. You know.
Indians = Native Americans
Black = African American
Mexican = Hispanic
Tranny = Preferred Pronoun

Hence why I put it in spoilers...though I apologize if it bothered people.

@ Luna
Smirk's talking about the war on Pronouns. People of "alt genders" get furious if you screw up the pronoun.
Re: Gen Chat VI: R.I.P. Satoru Iwata
I understand. I guess it was my fault as well for clicking on the spoilers. Sorry if I sounded judgmental.-Mazer wrote:smirkytrick wrote:@ Mazer

you didn't ^_^. I just try very hard (despite how it may seem) to keep everyone here unoffended/bothered. Hence why I made sure I kept it PG and very brief. Made sure I put a lot of warning on what the subject was about too though
Re: Gen Chat VI: R.I.P. Satoru Iwata
Wait, so if someone is trans, the say that their gender is "preferred pronouns?" That is just bullshit.smirkytrick wrote:I heard that's the proper way to address a tran. You know.

As for Mexicans, that isn't true at all. Mexicans want to be called "Mexican." Mexican-Americans, like myself, usually go with "Chicano." People usually use "Hispanic" as a blanket term for Latinos.

I always heard that it is a huge no-no to call them Mexican. At least thats how it was during the whole May Day rallies back in the day
Goto Tumblr and look up the whole anti-cis movement or the pronoun movement. I've seen VERY angry posts about people concerning pronouns. Like one post was something along the lines of "Don't you dare get my pronoun wrong, don't even bother asking me for the pronoun. If you don't get it, don't talk to me. F*ck off"
Re: Gen Chat VI: R.I.P. Satoru Iwata
Maybe it depends on how it's used, but from what I've seen, Mexicans identify as such. If anything, I've seen a lot more backlash to the term "Hispanic," but this could be from an "inside" perspective. Especially when one is around Latinos of different country origins. Most likely I'm just seeing it from a more nuanced perspective.

Yeah from my understanding the divisions break down kinda like this?
Latino:
Basically everyone south of the border, but not necessarily the people of the carribean
Hispanic:
People with supposed ties or origins in Spain, ie "White latinos" (you can sometimes see this in ethnicity/race surveys when they have "hispanic white" as an option) However, the term isn't strictly regarded in white/non-white trerms, additionally it can also cover both latin america and the Caribbean, which the other terms do not.
Mexican:
Exclusive to people from Mexico (duh), but much like people from the US they sometimes identify less as "Mexican" and more along the hyphenated path of Mexican-American or along the lines of Latino or as luna mentioned...
Chicano:
Another stand in for "Mexican American" but with some 20th century history attached.

Re: Gen Chat VI: R.I.P. Satoru Iwata
Indeed, that's the case. Also, so much hate between Mexicans and latinos of other origins. From both sides, that is. D:
I'm neutral, I usually identify as either "Chicano" or "American." Also, more often lately, "Californian."
