You naysayers are all so silly. Mario Galaxy is objectively the best 3D Mario ever created. An argument could be made for Galaxy 2 being superior (the levels and pace of said levels is better) but the story book with Rosalina's past pushes the first ahead.

I don't see how. The puzzle elements, the level design, the overall look, feel, and the level size are all better in Sunshine. No other 3D mario has come even close to the enjoyment felt from Sunshine for me.

Sounds like someone is upset that their game got corrupted and is letting that blind them from the brilliance of Sunshine. Sunshine had more creativity than any other 3D mario for the simple fact it's not just about "Hey, get to X and collect Y star" but actually making you clean things, dirty things, hover, explore, avoid toxic waste

Not to mention the mechanics actually make sense and are just not more hat powers that we've been getting constantly now. Plus a new enemy boss (baby bowser as opposed to normal bowser) combined with the chase down shadow mario segments....

The bright colorful tropical theme is hands down the best overworld/levels of the 3D games with catchy music and there are levels so high in the air it can be dizzying.

Not to mention the horrifying Mantra Ray boss



Sunshine is the last true creative Mario 3D game.

Better Overworld, sure, level design? Galaxy takes the crown (when I say Galaxy I'm including 1 and 2 as a single entity since 2 can be counted as an expansion)

Explain? Because most of the levels I see in Galaxy are just hovering in space with teensy land masses that vaguely resemble a theme to the level design whereas every beach in Sunshine has its own unique feature and is large as hell

most of the interesting new elements from mario galaxy were taken from fan hacks of super mario world made a a decade ago lol.

likely part of the reason galaxy didn't impress me since I saw better with fan hacks with stuff such as reversing gravity and circular worlds... granted the second one works better in 3d instead of 2d but it was the same concept.

the levels in Galaxy aren't bound by themes at all, they are all free to be w/e they want. Galaxy 2 especially is the one of the most well designed Mario games I've ever played.

if you want to talk about sticking to a level design formula than sure it is one of the better mario games at that... because it's boring and formulaic

I don't like sunshine but hands down it had the more interesting levels.
