Cybersix wrote:Mazer, did you play Breath of the Wild? Or were the lines way too long?
Lines were already 3 hours long when E3 opened...and when we got there they were 4 hours long. Which sucks because people who played got a blue Link tunic and a very VERY nice medallion...
I did get into the booth tho and interviewed people.
I will share complete exp once i geton pc
AND I MET THE MUTHER FCKER TOASTY MAN HIMSELF
Re: Gen Chat 13: About damn time we got to 13
Ok; E3 experience.
I am used to conventions; I do them all the bloody time but this was my first professional tradeshow and it was very different - maybe only 3 booths set up in the furthest reaches of the halls had stuff for you to buy and even the booths set up with things to buy weren't selling them - only displaying their product despite looking like they were selling. That was unusual at first but I understood why.
Lines weren't that bad but the games with lines were insane. Many needed tickets to get in - Zelda and Occulus Rift, and Horizon all required you to wait in an hour to 3 hour long lines to get the ticket to allow you to continue into the line to play the game/system.
The Persona 5 booth only had a line because of those hats and it was still a 2-3 hour long line (the only line we waited that long for) and some of the PR guys seemed very irritated that people just wanted the hats over seeing the game. The problem was though that their trailer and footage was already all over the internet so it wasn't "exclusive" anymore and it was still all in Japanese. It primarily only showed the city gameplay which people really didn't care about.
My guys bought us some very professional shirts with our Toxic Creativity logo on them as a patch and that actually caused us to get hit up by several companies while we were there. We had quite a few music and 3D artists approach us for jobs or to check out their portfolios which was freaking amazing because it made us feel like a big deal.

Re: Gen Chat 13: About damn time we got to 13
It was very impressive seeing so many companies wandering around. I was almost always surrounded by employees and VPs from Ubisoft, Sega, Atlus, Nintendo, Msoft, etc.
But the greatest moment was this:
So the voice actor of Mario was hanging out with the Zelda line, giving away free autographs, taking video and photos with the fans - just entertaining people. I heard about this and decided to hunt him down. Well, I missed him and was standing outside the Zelda's exit when this guy shows up next to me. I didn't notice him at all until he bumped into my shoulder by accident as he walked through the Zelda exhibit
Turns out it was Reggie! Holy crap!
So I bolt around the Zelda exhibit in hopes to at the least - get a photo with him - at the most, talk to him about our games because we do want to port it to the Wiiu/NX.
Sadly, by the time I got to the other side, he was gone. So I am just admiring the Zelda booth when I overhear 2 guys talking.
1: "Ok, what if we made a distraction and while they investigate, we rush the booth?"
2: "They'll stop us."
1: "Not if we get enough people! Come on, they cannot stop all of us."
I turn around and tell them I'd join in. WE all start laughing and just talking about E3 and how it was my first time and how impressed I was...
Then they ask...
1: "What are you here for? What company do you work with?"
I tell them that I work for Toxic Creativity, I'm public relations, then I tell them all about our game and everything.
1: "That sounds actually pretty awesome. Can I have your card?"
So I give them my business card...
1: "Yeah, we're with Activision and always checking out the indie guys."
Me: (laughing nervously): "I saw Activision on your badge but didn't want to be like ZMOG activision is talking to me!"
They both laugh and made jokes about how despite being Activision, Nintendo wouldn't let them in without being in line first. So I gave them our card and they told me they will be checking out our Steam page after the con...
I Was like HOLY FCKING SHYT!
and after we shook hands and left, I raced back to my crew to tell them.

Re: Gen Chat 13: About damn time we got to 13
We played games mostly from the Xbox area as Sony's booth was actually very lack-luster in content and several of their games were also in the Capcom and Xbox regions with shorter lines.
Played FF15 and I LOVE the combat for that game. Also KI for the PC and the new Ghostbusters - all fun games.
Interviewed some guys about this Open-Source VR headset that does not require a computer or any room sensors (All the tech is in the controller) and we are going to ask them for a development kit because it is android based.
Saw the VR porn section. Had a massive group of people there which was eye-rolling.
Day 2 (final day for me), we got into the Zelda booth for observation, I interviewed a girl who played it, talked to the Nintendo Media Press and they actually told me that if an opening came up, I would be allowed to come into the seriously very exclusive VIP section for Media only (where Reggie and all the others were). Sadly, we never got to try because we ran out of time waiting in lines for the kitty hats - but now I have the Media Relations contact info so I can get VIP next year.
Saw the new Injustice 2 gameplay trailer...OMG...SO AWESOME. The fact would get over 100 bits of armor per character to customize how they play is pretty bad-ass. :3
Preordered the Persona 5 Collections edition for PS4 (also decided that I am getting a PS4 now - just waiting to hear about Neo).
Took tons of photos, exchanged more business cards - etc. Overall it was an amazing experience. Next year will be even better

glad to hear you had a good time. Wish I could go myself, but since I have put my video game development stuff on the side burner to write more I doubt I will ever make it there-Mazer wrote:

It's a top-down style shooter with brand new characters not based off the new ghostbuster movies

Oh... you mean that cashgrab garbage... shows how confident Activision is in the new movie to bring some sales. I guess we will never see an actually good Ghostbusters game again.-Mazer wrote:Musou Sadie wrote:What?-Mazer wrote:We played games mostly from the Xbox area as Sony's booth was actually very lack-luster in content and several of their games were also in the Capcom and Xbox regions with shorter lines.

If you are still up for it, I can boot up the world again. I plan on getting back on in just a few minutes anyways.-Mazer wrote:Koenig wrote:It was fun doing Minecraft with you guys. I would love to play it more with you soon, give me a heads up the next time you are going to be on.

Hey Mazer! Did you see anything involving Yooka-Laylee?
Also, I may have to get a new laptop instead of a PC. For the past couple of days now, the screen was all weird (by that I mean it's not full screen), it's been having some memory and performance problems. Although, I could defrag my lappy, but then again, it's been running on what's left of Windows Vista.

If you get a new laptop, might as well get a very high end one.
Also - nothing I saw for Yooka-Layless, sad to say.

If I didn't know any better, it seems like the majority of (Neo)gaf is all for these mid gen upgrades. This is kinda upsetting :/
These are basically the PS5 and Xbone
(Whatever the fuck) masquerading as ps4 and Xbone coming between this year and next and will only serve to disrupt and alienate consumers.
