Im not the one to ask when it comes to specs, sorry.
Also: I did not realize that there was a planetary alignment tonight, though I am afraid I already missed it at its eclipse.

Why would you want water cooling?
TYHERE WAS AN ECLIPSE?!

Re: Gen Chat 0V: Paper Fallout of Doom Fantasy Zero
Ive heard that water/liquid cooling works better and runs quieter than a normal fan.
Planetary eclipse at least. It made them much brighter than normal, sadly I caught it after they had just passed each other and not during the moment of alignment.
Supposedly this one only happens every 2,000 years; though I have not found any source on that yet.

They were further apart than that when I saw them. Kinda crazy that, even though they just look like stars, two whole planets are visible to the naked eye right now.

It does but you introduce a lot more complexity and cost to the assembly of your hypothetical PC.

Duly noted. Is it honestly worth it? (In my case, it would be an extra $25 and unknown amount of trouble assembling it)

I'll listen to my favourite Canadian Punk bands today. Anyhow, what do you plan on doing? Do you blow stuff up like we do? If not, what's the point of anything?Cybersix wrote:*celebrates Canada Day by himself*

Re: Gen Chat 0V: Paper Fallout of Doom Fantasy Zero
If you plan to leave things at stock speeds and whatnot then I'd say it's unnecessary. It adds more complexity and it adds extra points of failure. The pump could be faulty, it could start leaking and the fan could be a dud (fans can be replaced with zero troubles though and aren't super expensive).Koenig wrote:Duly noted. So liquid coolers are more prone to failure than brush-less fans, I take it?
@Luna: That's awesome.

That's not what I meant. I mean it has more parts that can fail, not that they will.Koenig wrote:So liquid coolers are more prone to failure than brush-less fans, I take it?
@Luna: That's awesome.
A regular air cooler only has one point of failure which is the fan. A water cooler has the fan, the pump and the reservoir.

Re: Gen Chat 0V: Paper Fallout of Doom Fantasy Zero
Are there any brush-less fans that run silently that you would recommend for $60 or under?

What do you mean, brushless?Koenig wrote:Are there any brush-less fans that run silently that you would recommend for $60 or under?
The only cooler that I can recommend (because it's the only one I have experience with) is the cooler master Hyper 212+ (I think it's hyper 212 evo now) which is about $35 or so. The fan it comes with can be a tad loud but you can replace it with any other 120mm size fan.

Re: Gen Chat 0V: Paper Fallout of Doom Fantasy Zero
From what I understand, there are three kinds of fans: Brush-less, ball bearing, and sleeved. Supposedly Ball bearing fans last the longest, but are also the loudest. Brush fans are apparently the middle man in durability but are the most silent. I have no idea about sleve fans though...
In a nut shell, I have been told to get a brush-less fan by some of my friends.
