I'm just baffled that in this day and age and considering the financially dire straits Japanese companies are in, some of them just one day decide that staying financially afloat isn't cool anymore.

Also: Konami announced that they are shutting down the Console division of their gaming company. They are focusing strictly on either hand-held or casino games.

It’s exhausting writing about Konami these days. They’ve been a blight on an otherwise fantastic year for horror, though from the looks of it, we may be hearing less from them in the near future. The latest development on the company’s excruciatingly slow death new focus on mobile games development is especially troubling because of what it means for some of our favorite franchises.

According to a recent report by French news site GameBlog — and corroborated by Eurogamer — Konami is ceasing development of AAA console titles for everything but Pro Evolution Soccer. This would mean no more Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid or Castlevania games on consoles.

When Fox Engine director Julien Merceron left Konami this week, it was assumed that his departure had a lot to do with the company’s sudden course change.

you might not be able to see this now, but this is a good thing. with the current state konami is in any games from those franchises would be horrible. it doesn't look like the path konami is on will change thus it would be better if they just train wrecked and hope the IPs end up in people's hands who care about them. I mean we will at least still get a classic Castlevania game in 18 months or so when bloodstained comes out, but do you really want a metal gear solid game without kojima?

I could easily see nintendo getting the rights for Bemani series (which includes Dance Dance Revolution, Beatmania IIDX, GuitarFreaks, DrumMania, and Pop'n Music, among others)

I could also maybe see contra or silent hills with nintendo trying to snag some more edgy games like they did with bayonetta.

I couldn't really see them getting castlevaniya (that would be sony or even someone like square enix via edios) and then metal gear solid would either be sony, activision, EA, or ubisoft as that would clearly need a lot of money funneled into it as it is a series known for its graphics.

edit: heh I forgot about gungho. I imagine they would snag something like silent hills with P&D money and then put some people from grasshopper that worked on fatal frame on it if they are still around.

I am the opposite. The WiiU has the games I am interested in. The majority of the games that look interesting to me are also on the PC and my rig is pretty good to run most of them (barring WB's god-awful optimizations).

I am not holding my breath for FF7. I don't honestly even know why so many people are exciting considering Square's track history of taking 5 years or more per final fantasy title. Not to mention I feel FF7 has been buried into the ground.

PS4 has yet to provide me an exclusive title (least you can find me some zany JRPGs I don't know about .You know my unusual taste in that department ) that makes me want the system. Batman is probably the closest thing I'd get the system for considering how god-awful WB has been treating its PC ports...

the wiiu has some fine games, but really all that is left is the zelda game that will likely have a superior version on the NX. I mean before it was shown off I was excited for starfox, but after seeing it and seeing that it looks like the intern team is making it I lost all interest. Also sad face you don't own the best wiiu game, hyrule warriors

for me Nis is almost alone enough reason to own the ps4 as disgaea 5 will be there as will most of their future titles. The tales of series is one that I typically own a sony system for but this time around it seems like it will be coming to the pc.

the new Digimon game looks really solid (and I am not a fan of that) thus my wife and I are interested in that.

star ocean looks like it could be fun.

MLB the show is a huge series for me (it's actually sony's biggest exclusive for me )

oden sphere might be a remaster, but having that game tweaked and improved could make it something special so I am looking forward to that remaster.

the new vanillaware game with mechs looks like it could be fun, but not much as known.

I know there is more, but it seems japan is finally coming back to consoles instead of handhelds and it should be a good run for me on there.

only thing the xbox one has though is the psycho pass game which will likely come to the ps4 eventually lol.

NiS and I have a hate relationship...I keep getting their games and keep being disappointed...

tl;dr lots of future ps4 titles excite me (not much right now, I own like 7 games for the ps4 and most of them are games I picked up on whims only reason I own it right now is because I got it for $250 and disgaea 5 persona 5 were supposed to be this year, now just disgaea 5) a number of past wiiu titles were great but the future is very very bleak

as Vanillaware makes solid action rpgs with beautiful art.

also I realized I forgot a game for the wiiu of interest... what ever the heck the horrid looking fire emblem x megaten game is called anymore. I'll still likely buy day 1 because megaten, but man it looks bad ><;

it had games (quantity + quality) and a great controller. The Wii U has some games but it's feeling more and more like a rotting corpse than a properly supported console. GIVE ME INFO ON MY ZELDA GOD DAMN IT!!

So when did Gamestop start carrying the Gamecube controller adapter again?

Just ordered a replacement mobo for my brothers' pc with amazon prime same day delivery for the first time. Assuming there are no issues and it arrives by today, this is awesome.
