It took some convincing, but I finally started to do Live Video-Game streams on my youtube. Fridays and Saturdays I will stream from 11am to 1pm PST.
Now for the good news.

This week was the first time I actually did a live stream on Youtube. I played Mario Brothers 3 Randomizer which is a program that randomizes the levels, items, and enemies.

The result of that stream; About 16 viewers max at one time, 2 new subscribers, and 150 views max.
The result of the Saturday stream: 30 viewers max at one time, 38 NEW SUBSCRIBERS and 255 max views.
And on top of that - I NOW HAVE FANS!!! I have actual fans who are recommending new games for me to play. This is so exciting!

I am so glad youtube is doing streaming now, as it is much easier to find smaller channels and get a feel for what they are about.  I joined one stream and saw the guy go from 10 to 100+ subscribers over the course of an hour.

I like SNES games enough that I might actually get one for the sake of playing; otherwise i am tempted just to scalp it so I can pay off my tuition this fall.

I really do not do the scalping thing. I find it to be a serious dick move to those people who actually want it without the price gouging. I went to comic con san diego one time and waited a long as time in line for the Derpy exclusive only to discover store owners and scalpers bought them all up. Sure enough found them online for 4x to 10x the price from the con.

No cool imo. I already deal with that with amiibos.

If I find an SNES, I may get one just for collector's sake honestly, I already have retro duos, my Wii as an emulator, and my PC as an emulator. Do I really need a micro SNES?

Also I take a middle ground with scalping. I do price gouge it but I tend to do it in the middle ground of the going rate and the original rate. so I am still a dirty scumbag but not nearly as bad as others >.>

that being said at least in regards to nintendo I blame them not scalpers for the scalping prices. There isn't a great reason why they couldn't do the limited editions enough in advance that they could have preorders open for two weeks straight and anyone that wants one orders one during that time period.

if you want one after the fact you will have to buy from a scalper, but unlike the stuff that sells out in minutes, it would be your fault if you missed out.

The fact is, if people did not buy the product (sometimes in bulk even) for the sole purpose of hoarding it until they can price gouge, those are X amount of people who could have had it to begin with.

and if nintendo made limited things to preorder 100% of people who wanted the item would have a chance to get one.

even if you remove the scalpers a metric crap ton of people that want a limited item from nintendo still likely aren't getting one.

eh... depends on how you look at it.
I mean if you don't do it you could also easily be considered stupid. letting your pointless morals get in the way of turning an easy profit.

I would argue stopping someone else from potentially getting an object they don't need at all isn't really all that horrible. Heck if you buy it to scalp it and then sell it at well below the scalping market you are in general helping someone who likely wouldn't have gotten it at normal market price anyways as a lot of people miss out not by seconds but by hours and no amount of scalpers removed would save the object long enough for them to get one.

is it a good action you are doing, no. but it is far from an action that makes you a horrible person. They aren't for example abducting children to sell on the black market.
or murdering old people because they are creepy to look at with all those wrinkles.

scalping is a not great action, but it's far from an action that would make you a horrible person. and it's just good economics to participate in as it tends to be easy money, and while it sucks for the people who miss out on the item, no one actually gets hurt in the process, as the only people who should be buying from the scalpers are people who can afford to do so.

tl;dr: I ask a simple question.
If I buy an item at $60.
I sell you the item for $150
and the current going rate is $300.

am I a horrible person?
