Oh well , we can't agree on everything. But definitely give the OVAs a go. That's the true ending!

I plan on it, giving the new shows a try, right now, though.

HOW IS TRINITY SEVEN NOT TYPICAL HAREM SHOW!? I've been lied to. This felt exactly like a typical harem show. >_>
Also, didn't like the character designs.

Sure thing:
With most harem shows like Blade Dance, for example, the super powers/magic aspects and premise are so bland that it's not even worth caring about, but this was way different. The premise actually seems really cool, the harem actually seems interesting, already got a kiss the first episode so that's a plus in my book, and the protag is awesome! He's not dense, he's hilarious, and he's likable.
Then the girls themselves are pretty cool. All of them were likable. The pace and everything was great, never a dull moment. The fact that all the characters seem to be pretty straight forward with each other is great thing. You don't get that very often.
Seriously, this series shows way more promise then other harem series I've seen. In one episode, this anime is already more interesting than Blade Dance (and other harems) were in 12 episodes.

Re: WSS Anime Thread Vol. II
I already mentioned my distaste for blade dance. Anyhow, what you described could also be Demon King Daimaou or even, Rogue Aesthetics of a Hero. The things is, this is a typical harem. Just going by this first ep, it's typical. I've seen this before. MCs have been like that, though they're annoyingly rare. The girls are also pretty typical.
I haven't said this show is bad, just that it's typical. I've seen this character types before. Magic, school setting, mc with a special power. The only atypical thing is the non-dense/pussy mc, but at this point that is starting to have to be a requirement to even give this type of show a look. At least, from me. Also, someone whom I assume has read the manga, told me that later on it get's very risque' with near orgies(probably hyperbole) and that's also nothing new.
I don't expect much from this show. Anyhow, I stopped 3/4 of the way through the last ep of Kokoro Connect to write this up, let me finish that, 'cuz I want to add impressions for it.

Re: WSS Anime Thread Vol. II
So I just finished Kokoro Connect ova and I did like it better than the series....mainly because I liked the ending. Anyhow, let me get to my thoughts, first starting with positive and negative points.
- Spoiler:
- Positive:
Inaba was best girl and was chosen in the end. It's hard not to think that she was a consolation prize, but sometimes things just don't work out, I like that it went in the non-obvious direction.
Negative:
Iori was just being emo through most of this. I was just waiting for someone to call her on her self indulgent bullcrap. I didn't like this aspect of it, but I understand why it was there. These are teenagers still trying to find themselves. And I can't say I don't relate to Iori more than anyone else in this show....just my teenage years.
>_>
<_<
Anyhow, those two points kinda cover all I really wanted to say, but I want to add this, I feel that this show would have been VASTLY superior without the supernatural elements. I know those were needed as a catalyst to move the story forward and help with character development, but it was such a normal story at it's heart that I just would have preferred it not being supernatural. In fact, I feel that it wasn't as necessary to the plot as I would have liked. Or at the least, the series should have been longer and play more with it. I would have liked it having some more fun episodes, even if they would have felt like filler(I swear I can't recall thinking this often).
Like I said, I liked the ending. Sure, it was a "good ending" and who doesn't like those, but more than anything, it felt appropriate.

I wouldn't say it's typical it's just that it has some basic harem elements to it, but uses them differently. Yes it has things like a magic school and archetypes, but it uses them better than most harem shows imo. That's what I'm trying to get at here.
I'm actually intrigued by the characters and the premise! Most harem shows I'm just like, "yep, let's go through the motions." This actually shows some promise. Also the MC is great, which is almost unheard of in some harems.
And we may have different views on what typical is, but I view typical as: extremely predictable, carbon copy, and very similar situations.
As I said before, Trinity Seven holds some similar elements, but it uses them in a better way. Animes can't be completely original either. TS shows that it has some whit, attention to detail (like why there's more women mages), interesting world, interesting characters, good MC, and the magic seems pretty cool.
Sounds like you want something that's brand new, but it's like mecha, so many things have already been done in the harem genre. As long as a show can handle elements nicely, then I could care less if it was original or not. Just don't make it a complete carbon copy, like Blade Dance. Trinity Seven is familiar, but refreshing.
That's how I view it at least

Have you watched Demon King Daimaou or Hagure Yuusha no Estetica/Rogue Aesthetics of a Hero? I get what you mean, I'm just saying that this show, even with the variations you're saying it has, has already been done. I will be much harsher with it because I'll be comparing it to those two. I didn't give either one a higher than an 8, but I still thought they were really fun.

Also, just started watching Kimi ni Todoke. I heard it's really good, so I'm a bit excited.
Edit: The MC, Sawako, is so fricking adorable. I love her already. XD

Alright fair enough. We'll see what they'll do with it I guess. I think it should definitely one of the better shows of the season.
And I have not seen those, but they look interesting.... Also you gave Estetica a 9 lol.

Oh nice nice. After watching Blue Spring Ride, I'm going to need a break from shoujos with that similar artstyle for a bit. That was a enough for me for the foreseeable future.

WTF? I did? I must have messed up, highest it could warrant is an 8. But it is really fucking fun.
*quickly goes to restore balance to the world*
Ok, I downgraded the score, but I still highly recommend it.
Ah, I totally get what you mean. Blue Spring Ride was pretty disappointing. Anyhow, this one is a lot more like My Little Monster or Say, I love You. And like I said, Sawako is so adorable.

I plan to watch My Little Monster eventually, it seems good.
Anyways, can you please give Fate/Stay Night UBW a watch? Really great first episode, but is a 48 mins long though.

Seriously, F/SN is a great series. I've read the VN in its entirety and it's really awesome. A lot of depth, twists and turns, great characters, a lot of world building, and amazing action.
Each route reveals new truths about the story and characters, it's really well done. Unlimited Blade Works is my personal favorite route of the VN.

The people I talk to hype the shit out of it, so I have no desire to watch it. Especially since they expect and demand one to have a high opinion of it as well. dissenters aren't welcome.

Screw 'em. Just don't talk about your opinions with them and let them hype.
But I still think you'll like it, nonetheless. I'm telling you, give the first episode a go tomorrow or something.

Re: WSS Anime Thread Vol. II
Chaika!!!!!
- Spoiler:
- God, I'm so glad Chaika is back! Love this show!
Well looks like we got a little flashback from the Emperor, I really wonder what's his grand plan and the purpose of the Chaikas gathering all his remains. I don't think it's just simple resurrection, it's gotta be something bigger. Now the real question is whether if it's for a just cause or for mayhem. It could go either way.
The funny thing is that I think [red]Red Chaika[/red] has the right idea: Gather them all and destroy them. I personally don't trust emperor, so I think Chaika and the gang are actually fighting for a bad cause, which makes this anime interesting.
Red and White Chaika should join forces by cremating the emperor's body parts. This way, the body parts get destroyed and the emperor gets a funeral. Seriously, they should consider this! It's a win-win for everyone!
Anyways, I'm looking forward to Red Chaika next episode, she's a lot of fun.

This doesn't really feel like a new season, though. Just feels like the show had a break and is now back.

Parasyte was pretty damn good!
- Spoiler:
- Man! That was awesome! Creepy, but I loved it. This show gives me some vibes of The Thing and The Astronaut's Wife. All movies that have similar concepts to this. Just in general this show is reminiscent to many horror films revolving around aliens, and I love that since I'm a fan of horror films and alien horrors.
THe MC seems fine and the parasyte is pretty cool! I'm excited to see how those other two girls will be pulled into the mix and what other tragedies await. And since this was written in 1989, I thought it would still be in that time, but I like that Madhouse updated everything to modern day. Very cool!
These aliens are a force to reckon with. In a few days they've already killed a few dozen people.
And the beginning and end were brutal! Poor girl fell prey to that guy. Looks like she got raped then killed, what a way to go out

And ya, that's basically what the second season is. It's just a split cour.
Also I don't know what to call her. We'll have to wait and see what she wears later on.

- Spoiler:
- I agree that it was The Thing like, but I also felt that it was similar to The Flood, from Halo. Mainly how it's intelligent despite being a parasite.
Also, watched first ep of Daitoshokan no HItsujika and didn't see anything to warrant my following it. Seems like a typical harem with a dense/disinterested MC that is special. In other words, nothing to see here, move a long(for me, at least).
