bleh, I'm keeping my nose out of that business. Just a mine field of confusion >_<
So when people say "gender is a social construction" what that really means is that the behaviors that our society normally designates or assigns to one gender or another is the result of societal, not biological forces
This however woefully ignores the possibility of biological determinism, and opts for a "mind over matter" approach.
It's true that the concept of "dresses are for girls" is a social construction.
It's true that what we often label as "masculine" or "feminine" is often actually arbitrary in that it's based only on historical or social precedent.
That's the best and simplest way I can describe it.
That said, trying to divorce gender and sex when they are intimately intertwined is tricky business.

Hmm...I've been meaning to ask, is it okay if I spell "theater" as "theatre?" Or is that wrong? My inclination is to spell it as the latter, but it's annoying that I get spell check hounding me or autocorrected.
Also, made some food and it's spicy! D:

Theater is American English and theatre is British/ Canadian English. It's not wrong.Luna wrote:Hmm...I've been meaning to ask, is it okay if I spell "theater" as "theatre?" Or is that wrong? Don't lie to yourselves, the British spelling of the word is french bourgeois Norman colonial imperialist nonsense.
Spell it like how it sounds. You know you want to. We changed our spelling to be free of such silliness. Because AMERICA.

You say that, but I've been trying to switch over to the American way of spelling it, but it just feels wrong.

I feel like I've been neglecting my true art style and looking at this sketch right now is feeling like an epiphany of sorts.
Welp, background time
