Yeah, but usually it ends with a cash settlement. Philips is now just being unethical at this point. Yes, it may infringe on some of their products. But there are many companies that depend one the WiiU. Platinum Games, Sega, Retro Studios, various companies from kickstarter, and not to mention probably tons of nintendo employees that'll be laid off if this happened. I don't know if this will actually happen though, if anything I'm still betting that this will be settle with cash. It's not over yet though, keep this in mind.

I wonder how many of Nintendo's patents Philips is infringing upon...It would be interesting to see if Nintendo counter sued.

Well, I would boycott Philips.... but the only thing I have is this broken universal remote.

What does Philips even make now days? I have not seen their brand label on any of the merchandise that I or my family use.

Come to think of it, Philips doesn't have that many stuff as it used to back in the 90s.... I don't think they can afford Banning the WiiU, they're will probably go for a cash settlement.

You'd get this situation for Consoles as well, but you wouldn't be able to walk around it.

Except you would not have that problem on Consoles because the equivalent for "Games for Windows" would not pass quality control. That said, the games own performance would depend heavily on how much effort the developers put into, there have been a lot of lazy ports on Consoles.

If Philips is not careful they could end up being counter sued. Considering their decline that could be detrimental to them.

I thought they still made tvs, dvd/blu ray players, dryers/washers, other kitchen appliances, etc. o.o

That is what I thought as well, however none of those products have anything to do with motion control or video game systems (save for DVD/Blu-Ray)

Hey Smirky, would you be up for working on another Game concept with me? I have been toying around with a design for one for a while now I would like to share it/beat it with a stick.

They probably bought the patents before anyone did anything with them with aspirations to do something like this. I'm sure it'll be settled with money, as in Ninty making a deal to pay them.

If that is the case then they are patent trolls and the court(s) should throw out their case like you would expired food left in the refrigerator.  They wont though, but they should. Patent trolls do nothing but leeche off of others and they should be dealt with much like real parasites are; and that is to say they should be exterminated.

I was thinking I would create a new thread for it since it is a new project and fundamentally a different kind of game.

Smirky and I brainstorm game ideas from time to time. By throwing the idea back and forth we accumulate more information about the design of the game than we would by ourselves. Essentially we come up with un- organized design document. It is a nice way to put our idea's into order even if they may or may not be used.
