Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
So I figured out how to get my recording thingie to work, and due to the cords I have at my disposal, it's the least intuitive thing ever.
...So basically, it ain't happening with how things are set up in this place.

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
Decided to play some RE Revelations to mess around with it. The fact that the nub simply does not move just makes it weird feeling, that and with the amount of force that seems to be required to essentially slide it to it's edge I tend to feel like I'm going to tear it off by mistake >.>Koenig wrote:Shooters? On the 3DS? What nonsense is this?
Also, on a semi related note, is it not odd that the DS had a good amount of shooters but the amount on the 3DS you can count on one hand?

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
The only good shooters were the ones that used the touch screen controls, and considering how nightmarish those are to learn for new comers...

I forgot to respond and say same for me.
The lore is fun to develop. but can take a bit of effort.
the actual setting as in what the buildings look like/people look like ect is the hard part for me.
dialogue is really easy for me though as I typically develop all of my characters to the point where they can basically be formed in my head as a person who I can argue with and talk to and what not. Most of the time while writing dialogue I will get pissed off when my character is angry or be on the verge of tears when my character is sad just because I put my mind in the same mind set as them lol.

I very much the opposite. Lore and description comes easy to me, I can envision every detail, form, and function of the world and its customs.
Characters on the other hand, are little more than place holders, something I have the hardest time wrapping my head around.

I need to eventually work with someone like that to finish my story as a lot of what I do is an outline of the scene I want to do and then filling in the character interactions. I rarely worry about how people look, how towns are laid out, how buildings are laid out ect unless it's vital to the story. I always just go I can worry about that later lol.
that isn't to say my towns, worlds ect don't have a ton of history. I do spend a lot of time on that stuff as well as it is important to how characters act. Most of my characters have a 20-50k word backstory to them that I just quick summarize in the main story. the main villain could get closer to 100k on his own (well his and one of the main characters) and the actual history of humanity could get close to that as well. I tend to go crazy with the back story details with my main characters but only the important stuff makes it in.
but yeah, ask me to describe my main character jack and you will get
5"11" or so
dark brown hair
blue eyes
fit
good looking
ambidextrous thus muscle build is very symmetrical, favors right hand when writing though.
and yeah... that is about it lol. This is a character I have been working on for 12 years now and that is about all I can tell you about his looks

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
Perhaps we should work together at some point. At the very least I would love to have some feedback on my work once I get a chapter or so down.
I have literally been writing and re-writing the lore of my story for years, but have only just started an actual dialogue, and even that is mostly to get my foot in the door so i can start putting the pieces together.
I do have a few good characters, but most of them all play a major role to the plot. I am having to force myself to create new minor characters on the fly in other to create bridges between events and dialogue.

If I have time I can give it a look.
you can ask legend... I like to complain about dialogue, as after getting so far into reading some of his stuff I start questioning why characters are saying what they are or doing what they are as that is just how I write. There are plenty of things in my story that I didn't originally intend for, instead my characters just took me there and I was just like... what ever, it's your story you do what you want lol.
edit: reading through a bit more of my chapter zero and I wonder if it will be as obvious to a reader where I did research and didn't...
for me it's super obvious but that is partially because I don't know certain terms like what a Pyraminx Crystal is off the top of my head which makes it odd when I am reading stuff

GAH! my formatting goes away when I copy and paste something @_@
google docs to the rescue.
the poorly done chapter 0 now has a thread.
fair warning, chapter 0 is 16 pages of single spaced writing aka not for people who like things short and to the point.

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
Speaking of cats, some jerkwad cats invaded our home today at like 6 am. They came in through and open window and were knocking shit down. Nothing of import, to me, broke, but some stuff that belonged to mum did....looks like junk to me anyway.
Anyhow, my niece woke up and the cats panicked and one that wasn't able to make a run for it got cornered, by my niece, and was crying. My brother immediate opened the door and let him get away.
At first we thought that our cat, Kiko Cat, was having some sort of "Feline Kick back," but he seemed as surprised as us. I huggled him for a while anyway, since he was wet (raining outside). Though I made sure he was dry first.

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
Kitteh invasion. Good lord. I only had 1 cat enter my home but it was because I let him in and he was keeping me company for a while before he hopped out to go home.
Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
I guess we have 2 cats, technically, but one of them left...then came back like 3 months later, stayed for about a week and left again. Jerkwad cat.

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
31 Days 31 Drawings
Every October, artists all over the world take on the InkTober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month. I created InkTober in 2009 as a challenge to improve my inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.
Anyone can do InkTober, just pick up a pen and start drawing.
InkTober rules:
1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2) Post it on your blog (or tumblr, instagram, twitter, facebook, flickr, Pinterest or just pin it on your wall.)
3) Hashtag it with #inktober
4) Repeat
Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. INKtober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.
That's it! Now go make something beautiful.
