The DRRR dub is coming to Crunchyroll on the 10th so you should watch it. I haven't watched the dub, but the series in general is great. If you can, I'd recommend watching the sub because the season season is coming out in like 2-4 days.
I think DRRR would be your type of series: Everything you don't like, it doesn't have, so that's gotten mean something to you.

Tokyo Ghoul A: Episode 1
Good episode overall.
Also, no censorship!
Good episode overall.
- Spoiler:
- The ending was pretty sweet and unexpected. I felt really bad for Touka.
It seems like this is like a VN and Kaneki chose "Join Aogiri" because supposedly be picked a different choice in the manga (maybe he stayed with the gang?)
What's nice is that after this it will all be original content and there can't be anymore 1:1 comparisons anymore really. Man, I wish most animes would do this if they went down the anime original path. Don't try to condense and butcher the actual story because of budget and time, but try to come up with something new that will fit within their budget. I see TG:A nothing more than like a different route in a VN, it's just a different take on the same universe.
Also, no censorship!

Re: Anime Chat VIII
I see, that's a pretty interesting point. I've wondered that many times as well, though. If a show goes down anime original route, then just go completely original. Make it like a spinoff, just using the same characters. I would love that.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Ive always been into anime animation, it is just a matter of finding one that interests me and actually having the time to watch it. I honestly don't care for anime any more than traditional "american" animation, the only problem is most american animators do not take their content seriously anymore. So it is more of a problem of supply and demand in my opinion.
*Gives Disney the middle finger for scrapping their entire 2d animation department*
So...Did either of you ever watch Rideback, Sgt.Frog, or D.Grayman since I mentioned it before? I kinda want to talk about them (Or any of the previous anime I just watched)

I still have yet to watch Rideback or Sgt. Frog. I only watched part of D.Grayman on netflix a couple of years ago.

In that case, what did you think of what little you saw of D.Grayman?

Any idea how many episodes you watched? Only half of the series was ever dubbed.

yeah, half of the series. It was 50-something eps. I waited for the rest to be dubbed, but it never happened. :/

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Some of the best parts of the series are in the second half, though the comedy is mostly toned down for a bit because of all the fighting...

Re: Anime Chat VIII
I loved the tone of the series. It was fun and light humor, but could become dark quickly and always had that menacing undertone.
Also, can't wait for the Isuca anime. Dat Suseri....and Tamako...but mostly Suseri.

Agreed, it did a very good job of handling the two without conflicting the tones.
Back to Magi: One thing that has been bothering me more and more since I watched that show is how they NEVER pronounced Magi right.

Yes. They pronounced it "Mog'E" instead of "Maj'I". A very minor problem, but it is bugging me more and more.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
I see, I think of it as the former because that's how it's said in Japanese version. Though I know I shouldn't, since it's not a word native to Japanese. Still, I think of it as that just for this series.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
It is pronounced majI God damnit!
*Is getting overly PO'ed about this*
I wonder why they held onto the wrong pronunciation in the translation though; did they not realize Magi is a real word or did they intentionally use the wrong pronunciation? Then again, they did the same thing with Eureka 7 so it was probably the latter.

Like I said, I think it was intentional. Especially with the talk of God in the show, maybe they just wanted to not be too connected to anything else.
