I watch TV because in part because it is passive, if I wanted to dedicate more time I would read Manga's to begin with instead of anime; granted animation, color, music, and pacing are other perks that come with anime over manga.

Yeah, but because of the added stuff, many anime won't get finished or many manga won't even be adapted. I have a list of many manga that I would love love to see adapted, but nooo. D:

I would love to see a certain book series turned into an anime. It would be fantastic; but alas, Japan likes mecha's more than dragons...

I don't think Mecha is the opponent. It's shitty harem series. There are literally like 6 new ones airing right now...that are all about the harem. And for the most part, they're essentially the same show. -__-

Still, it does make me wonder how much it would cost to fund the development of an anime on an existing book series. Then again I know that many Japanese studio's actually approach the author first and not the other way around.

Yeah, but I have seen that there are kickstarter type things for anime. If there was a studio that was willing to make it, just not able because there was no money backing the project, that'd be a good avenue...maybe. Kickstarter type deals can be really tricky to pull off.

I'd argue against that, but only as far to to say that, looking back, the initial formula was boring to begin with.
Mainly, the most stereotypical mc, which is the dense coward that is secretly a pervert.
Other variations will include the mc not being and out and out coward, but he will instead be an moronic pervert. Perversion ranging from extreme to just a clumsy fool.
Indecisive protagonists are also fucking annoying.

Admittedly it would be nice to see a character who was not a pervert, which is probably the reason I never thought of "Ah! My Goddess" as harem before. Simply not having a pervert is such a deviation from the norm it deserves a fucking nomination.

Hmmmm I'm going to give my perspective on the harem argument:

Harems, while have been done so many times, make tons of money in japan and because of that it helps fund bigger and more ambitious projects for studios.

Getting rid of harems would critically wound the anime industry and that's why you need harems to keep this industry afloat. A lot of these manga series that some of you may be speaking of probably wouldn't be that popular and it would be financial failure. Actually, the money generated from harems allows studios to take risks for some mangas/LNs/VNs that would probably never see the light of day animated if the harem money wasn't generated.

So bash all you want, but it's making money for studios and that's just a fact.

Harems are here to stay and will never go away, so I just say, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." I personally like watching harems and don't think too much of them. They're fun and easy to watch, I have no problems with them. If they're making money for studios then by all means keep them coming.

You know...I really wish other people watched Wakfu. I am enjoying it much much more than I ever thought I would, despite the odd animation and terrible dubbing. Granted its not technically an anime, but it is closer to anime than anything you would find on something cartoon network.

Nobody ever said they didn't make money. In fact, that's a point I've pointed out a ton of times as to why they exists. You're just making the same argument that people make for CoD, but that wasn't the point. We're just lamenting the fact of that as a whole. Or at least I am. But still SIX FUCKING SHOWS THAT ARE TOO SIMILAR CAN'T BE GOOD FOR THE INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE.

I'm not interested. I'm more interested in a Taiwanese series called Wang Pai Yi Shu, but not attention is even being paid to that by fan translators. D:
Well, the manga version is, a bit, but not the animated version.
