Blaming poor choreography on CGI really does not help your point.  Most anime have devolved into a very bland abstract series of motions for fight scenes; I have litteraly seen the exact same animation reused across several different anime. There is a very static, un-moving nature to many shows now, and I for one greatly dislike it.  I am sick and tired of nee-jerk reactions to CG in animation.  Just like any other animation style, it needs to be used correctly, and Sidonia definitely makes the best of it in most cases.

That's not true. What are you even referring to? Didn't you watch HxH? Its fights should prove to you right there how much better they can be compared to CG ones.

Many anime fights in the modern day are very fast and fluid. I can point to far more examples of great 2D fight scenes than 3D ones. RWBY, and Rakuen Tsuihou: Expelled From Paradise are probably about the best that I've seen in terms of CG fights. I still have to watch Sidnoia, but I bet it has good ones as well.

However, I'd say most 2D fights are far better. Hell, you want a recent example? Watch Rolling Girls that's currently airing.

Seriously Koenig, I can give you examples all day of great 2D fights. Maybe there's some bad examples you're thinking of, but there's far more good ones that bad ones. Seriously, watch this fight from Naruto and tell me this is "very static, un-moving nature"

I completely disagree with you.  Those fights rely almost entirely on style.  though they still look good and I enjoy them for it, however they are still vastly inferior to many CG animated fight scenes in terms of animation.  Lets also not forget another major component-the background: Simply put, unless you spend your entire budget on animating the background for a single fight, an animated CG scene will trump a 2D animated scene in almost every case.  Then again much of this is comparing apples to oranges:  2D animation is by nature stylized and heavily rooted in the exaggerated or the abstract.  3D animation focuses more on realistic movements and simulation.  However both of these animation styles share aspects to each other.  When I am looking for realistic animation and fluid movement, CG will likely win every time-which is exactly the case here.

Keep in mind, I still think that 2D animation has several advantages over 3D animation; in fact generally everything that relies on stylized exageration typically works better in 2D animation than 3D.

The backgrounds? I'm sorry, but that's probably one of the least important things when it comes to a fight. What's most important is the foreground and the individuals fighting. As long as the background does its job of not looking out of place, then its fine. I still don't understand this example of the background being a must, in RWBY and Expelled from Paradise the background isn't any more lavish or well made than 2D ones.

I can even point to you examples of animes that make a good use of both and that would be basically anything that ufotable has made: Kara no Kyoukai, Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night UBW, etc. Though, the CGI is used to compliment the amazing 2D art, but it's still a good blend. Here's a 40 second example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKoarsoa_xw

And I'd still say 2D art is far more appealing to me, the clip I showed above shows how great 2D art can be. No anime CGI can even touch what ufotable did in that clip, unless you know of something that I don't know. In anime CGI, I believe most things look and feel clunky, you have try really hard to make the look more diverse (like in RWBY and Expelled from Paradise) because bad CGI is really bad. Even low budget 2D art looks far better than bad or average CGI, Kill la Kill is proof of this.

On the topic of fighting, I find some anime rather weak when it comes to impact... As in, a punch delivered looks like it wouldn't even hurt a fly.

Probably my biggest complaint is most anime (not all) tend to have something akin to turn based combat.  Player A attacks player B, insert attack pattern, player B attacks player A, insert attack pattern, wait, talk, repeat.

Also I apologize if I am being argumentative.  Classes just started so my mind is currently operating somewhere along the lines of defcon 1.

I agree with you on Oreimo, though I only watched the first season.
Spoiler:

High School Ouran Host Club is pretty good, I enjoyed it a lot.

As for Denpa Kyoushi, I don't like the manga, so I'm apathetic about that announcement.

That's because when the anime was made, the manga was still publishing.
