Re: Anime Chat VIII
I'll consider it based on access. Where can I watch it? Netflix is a no go for me, btw.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Now a days it's mainly rawranime.tv or Crunchyroll that I use for anime streaming. As for tv stuff....I usually dl that.

The most would be on Crunchyroll and now since I have a Funimation membership, I watch everything that's not CR there.
But for darkside sites, I'd use rawranime for sure.

Dafuq?
Anyways, I don't think either of those sites has Wakfu on it. Sadly. However I am I can find a subtitled version of the show somewhere on the internet if you are still interested.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Caught up on Spirit Cycle, same author as Biscuit Hammer, and it's fucking awesome. At 31 chapters, it feels like it's about to end soon, so I gave it a score....of 10.
I think I'm just in "fanboy" territory with this author, that's the third series of his that I've given a 10 to (Hoshi no Sumidare and Sengoku Youko being the other 2). Just love his stuff.

I like the manga....this didn't remind me of the manga. Anyhow, I think I'll just wait for the uncensored versions. I really did just come for the t&a for this show and there's no point watching it censored. >_>

Re: Anime Chat VIII
You know, watching a French show really makes me appreciate how rare it is that we get quality animated television (Youtube-Netflix-vision?) Outside of Japan, very few countries are willing to take animation seriously. I watch more anime than anything else not because It is inherently better, but because anime in contrast to most animated shows today is willing to tackle larger subject matter; epic stories, violence, racism, sexuality, politics, economy, and the like are common themes that it is willing to explore while most other mediums will only focus on a single aspect.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Comics in the US are willing to tackle that, but studios aren't willing to adapt from them. That's a huge disappointment. It all stems from the stigma that animation is cartoons, which are for children and we need to franchise cartoons into toys and whatnot.
Now, we do have our great shows here. The Archers, Venture Bros or South Park, but they're far too rare. How nice would it be for places to just create something, even if it's only for a season. Everything needs to be a long running franchise or bust.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Koenig you should give Legend of Korra a try. Probably one of the best "american animes" you'll ever see. Even though it's more oriented towards kids, there's plenty for mature audiences to like. It deals with a lot of mature issues. And the ending was definitely unexpected.
I hope the avatar/korra guys find a safe haven that's far away from Nick because Nick totally shat on them during season 3 and season 4. They need to find a studio or publisher where they can let their creativity run free and not be locked down to child focused content like on Nick. Also Nick totally through run under the bus so I'm glad they left Nick.
I'm hoping for the day when American animated shows can go head-to-head with Japanese anime. It's going to take someone or certain group of people to bring change to American animation and show that we can be just as good as the japanese.
My dream job is to write scripts for anime-like shows, but I have no idea how I could do that especially since my school doesn't have a proper film program and there aren't any studios doing that type of stuff. I have however written a few chapters in a few of my stories that I've made up, I'd like to finish them one day and maybe post it somewhere online for people to see.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
A couple of years back, I thought that Adult Swim might be able to change American animation. I forgot that there is also Fox stuff, Simpons/Family Guy/etc. But that's mostly stuff I don't like, so meh.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
The only way American animation will take off in propper is if a number of studio's or a major publisher push such animation. Disney and Warner Brothers used to have the power to do something like this, but sadly they have scrapped the majority of their 2D animation assets.

I would put more trust in places like Netflix or Amazon. I'd love to see a webcomic like Battledog get an animated series.

The disappearance of Nagato Yuki Chan is getting an Anime.
There probably won't ever be a 3rd season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
