And Yep Justin, One Punch Man is going to be fucking awesome. Based Madhouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They'd be the only studio I would trust with that series, the manga art is too good for a small studio to do.

Who here's watched Wolf Children? It's kind of crazy how consistent Mamoru Hosoda has been with just hit after hit after hit. Dude's gonna reach god tier lvl if he keeps this up lol

I'm pretty sure everybody has already watched it. You're mega late to the scene.
Anyhow, it's a great movie, I loved it.

Indeed, I'm surprised you missed out on the "hype" of it when it came out. When it came out in Japan, it was even shown in some theaters here in Los Angeles (with subtitles obviously).

Re: Anime Chat VIII
I didn't really hear about it until recently. I'm not in any anime news circles since I don't watch a whole lot, or keep up with it. That and even when I did hear about it I wasn't aware that it was a new movie from Mamoru Hosoda until like a month ago.

I haven't watched it either. I keep on putting it on hold. I will watch it eventually though, it won a lot of awards (should have won a Academy Award, but the Academy barely ever recognizes animes unless it's by Miyazaki which is bullshit. Animes should win best animated picture almost every year, even Pixar doesn't match the shit that Japan puts out. All Disney stuff is targeted at children while animes target a wide scope of people and yet they're always overlooked by westerns unless it's Ghibli. Bullshit!).

Re: Anime Chat VIII
I don't really pay attention to the academy awards so I wasn't aware. I wouldn't say Disney stuff is strictly targeted at children either though. All of Pixar's and WDAS' films target the same broad audiences as films like Wolf Children and such. Both of have their strictly child oriented moments but the films as a whole are geared toward everybody.ColumbianLoom wrote:LegendX48 wrote:I guess I would be mega late, always am >.>

Re: Anime Chat VIII
that's for sure, I'm surprised they even still nominate studio ghibli's films, I'm slightly surprised and not surprised at the same time that stuff like Wolf Children and Summer Wars never get nominated, hell I bet not even Akira made the cut back in the day

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Just finished the last eps for Kiseijuu and Shinmai maou no testament.
Also, yesterday I finished Akatsuki no Yona and I really enjoyed it. I can't help but hope for a second season. Hak is best guy and I'm gonna start reading the manga for this.
- Kiseijuu:
- I enjoyed the series. Last few eps seemed to get a bit preachy, but that didn't really affect my opinion on the show overall.
- Testament:
- Gods, I feel that this show should have been so much better and if not for censoring, probably is. That being said, the MCs personality is so fucking annoying. I've said before how I hate "goody two shoes" characters and he's one of those throughout.
This last ep gave me some hope for him. No mercy or leniency for Zolgia. He watched him die, I approved of that so much. I thought he was gonna have sex with Mio, I was all like "fuck yeah!" but then he stopped and showed his cowardice. I was then hoping a threesome with Yuuki would happen, but noo. Though at that point, bringing in Maria to help mediate was a seemingly calculated action to show her she still had a place there and that they forgave her. (for the record, I wouldn't have, but I'm pretty merciless)
And lastly, Jin is so fucking cool. I feel that this might be a whole lot more fun with him at the protagonist. Give me the cool and mature guy over the cowardly immature son any day.
I hope the second season is better overall, this was a really average show with hints of promise.

Haha, as I read those, I felt you echoes my feelings and thoughts on the them. Though as far as the asinine "numerical" score, you were more lenient/generous on all accounts by a factor of one (Testament-5, Parasyte-8, and Yona-8 from me).
Also, what's you're opinion on Jin (Basara's dad)? That last scene just made me wish that there was more on him...much more.

Haha ya, I was just one point above you for each one of them lol. I guess I just liked them just slightly better than you
And I thought he seemed pretty kickass. He's Leori's VA so you know he's a good character from default! Hopefully in the second season we'll see more of him. I wonder if he'll over throw the Demon King all by himself?

Re: Anime Chat VIII
It seems like it, but going by our descriptions, seems we were in line as far as what we thought. Numerical core doesn't really matter in this case.
As for Jin:
As for Jin:
- Spoiler:
- It seems that it's been already stated that he's feared greatly by the demons. That he's part of the reason that the previous Demon Lord set up a peace treaty, or something like that. So I wouldn't be surprised if he could overthrow this new guy by himself. Especially since it seems they're not even as strong as the previous king.
How awesome would it be for Basara to just marry Mio and become the Demon King. I'd like to see that happen once. The hero just marry's the demon kind and becomes demon lord alongside them.
Maouyuu Maou Yuusha is the only one that comes to mind that was close to doing that, but even then didn't go in that direction (though I still love how that story turned out).

- Well.... Trinity Seven kind of has what you're saying haha. But I think it would be cool if that happened, but I think the whole demo hiecarchy is going to crumble if Basara's daddy kills the current leadership. I'm interested to see what will happen in the second season

- Spoiler:
- Grr, you brought up Tinity Seven. Anyhow, If I recall correctly, wasn't the mc a demon lord candidate from the get go? Because if so, that's not really the same. I mean, the demon lord candidate mc has been done before.

Re: Anime Chat VIII
Somewhat random question: But why does Fairy Tail have such dark filters over any scene with explosions or flashing light? It contrasts the color pallet used in the rest of the show and is quite an eyesore in my opinion. I have noticed the same effect used in other anime but not as pronounced as it is in Fairy Tail. I presume it has something to do with the "Pokemon Law" Japan set up to prevent PSE, but I don't have any conclusive proof of that right now.

Man, 2015 is looking like it could be a year to remember for a while. So many huge shows coming out this year and Winter has already been quality. This could go down as my favorite year since I've started anime yet (though my track record isn't too big but still!)
