Sent!
PS: Did you ever get the chance to look at the other link I posted? The one about Zelda's unique composite perspective.

Did you ever decide on a standard pixel length? Until I know that I won't know what I should be working on. I can try to make some more sprites in the mean time, but I am not sure if they will match the content you have in mind.

Re: Horror Zelda Game
I'm not doing the pixel stuff, just some general concepts but I do believe 16 bit is the target though. As for actual character sizes and such, I don't know :\

Re: Horror Zelda Game
I still need to do some research on making decent tile-ing textures. More importantly however, we also need to factor in how a Zelda style game uses both an isometric and top down view for their games; leading to some strange pixel art.
For example: In a link to the Past you can clearly see the front of a building and all the detail on it as if the view point were from in front of it, however you can also see direction behind the building as if your camera were positioned above it.
From what I have seen, this kind of pixel art is almost entirely unique to the Zelda series.

Re: Horror Zelda Game
What is the Pixel height and width of Link and most of the enemies in LTTP
Also; would it be better to do the dungeons first as they will be mostly tiles?

I don't know. From what I understand they range start at 8 by 8 to anywhere upwards of 256 by 256. The common factors seems to be the 8 by 8 base though.
As far as dungeons, I have no idea. I am still teaching myself pixel art. Do you have any good tutorials for making good tiling textures?

Re: Horror Zelda Game
Use the style RPG maker does...
Some tiles with a border for edges
Tiles that are the blank, floor type (like grass)
Then tiles that are transparent but have items on them like cracks, flowers, etc?

Do you mean purely isometric? or should I still try to emulate the multiple perspectives that Zelda uses?-Mazer wrote:Use the style RPG maker does...

PS: When I said tutorial I meant guides or video's that demonstrate how to make textures that seamlessly connect to copies of themselves or other tiles without leaving a noticeable line between them.

Ah.
How well can you emulate the Zelda perspective? The question is mostly on what we are capable of doing.

At this point my extent of pixel art is the top hat gentleman I posted before.

Re: Horror Zelda Game
my inktober day 6 drawing gave me an idea for a possible tunic/armor upgrade outfit. Gonna play around with it today (hopefully).

Re: Horror Zelda Game
I like the outfit though due to the armor-esque feel, it may be more suited for a mid-game item?
Re: Horror Zelda Game
Yeah, it could be like the first tunic with the final one being more armored. I need to tweak it further though cause it's too similar to the reference image I used.

Re: Horror Zelda Game
Do you have any particular plans for music in the game Mazer?
I found a video that might be somewhat useful as a basis to find more information on 8 bit sounds(Though i still need to find one for 16 bit)
