Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
I love the collectible aspects of the game as well as the aesthetic and yarn mechanics. (And yes, as a whole I do like the game)
Now, on to what I dislike about the game (nitpicks, but noticeable ones: Just because I like a game does not mean it is immune from criticism)
Because the game is so focused on the yarn mechanics it leads to some levels relying far too heavily on them. Ever notice how there is anegg yarn box every 10 ft? This is because the game relies too much on using yarn and requires it to proceed through almost eveyr challenge. In the original game eggs were used frequently, but were not required for everything like they tend to be in this game. Meaning the 6 egg cap worked well and players could restock off enemies as they went rather than having to max themselves out every few seconds with a spawning box. It breaks the flow of the game for me. Granted it is not too big of a problem, but considering I spend a good 30-60 seconds each level topping off my yarn supply it adds up quickly. It would have been better to either increase the maximum yarn count yoshi could use, make the box instantly max out the supply, or give yoshi an unlimited supply at all times.
The other thing I dislike is the overly simplified controls, or to be more specific the aiming. It works well enough considering most of the controls work the same, but why is it that I can't use the joy stick to manually aim? The wii remote by comparison is an objectively better controller because its motion controls allow you to aim manually. Where as the pro controller might as well be an NES controller for all intents and purposes. Nintendo has gotten into a really bad habit over simplifying their games, making it very annoying for veteran players who have long since moved on to more complicated/capable controls.

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
For the first point: Despite the fact they do have the Yarn boxes frequently - I find myself without any yarn whatsoever during some levels. This actually caused me to miss some hidden clouds because the enemies were dead and no yarn boxes were in the region.
Esp on the bonus levels (flower ones) where yarn is infrequent. And do you really spend 30 seconds per yarn box? I generally ignore them since I always yarn up my enemies unless there are a lot of platforms in my path.
As for the aiming; I feel it would make the game a lot easier. But also the fact that how would you move and aim at the same time? Left joystick? That could bring in some difficulties during more intense areas that have very little room for error. Like the lava pit level with the balance logs. You don't have time to manually aim and move (2 joystick method in theory). But you can easily keep jumping or move with the current method until the crosshairs are where you want them to be and hit the FREEZE button to keep them there

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
as far as I can tell with the aiming, all yoshi games are like that though this game does actually offer a different aiming mechanic that it labels as "Impatient," though I'm not actually sure what it does since I've yet to use it. Aside from that, if you need to throw an egg up you can do just hold up on the D-pad and press R/Zr and yoshi will immediately aim up and hold until you let go of the direction.
The frequency of the yarn boxes doesn't bother me at all, I like the fact that they are plentiful since I've going for all sunflowers and yarn bundles since a decent amount are literally invisible until you throw crap at it lol
ALSO, you can throw yarn balls at the yarn box and collect it much faster that way since it'll usually toss 3 yarn balls down when you do that.

Hey Mazer.
Yanfly's Core engine allows the ability to change the screen resolution.
Apparently there's no limit in resolution. I got my game at 1280x720 now.

Lol
Have you never played my GT game? I've been using Yanfly since the start. You can also change text color with his engine.
@ Legend
Thanks for the tip but there is not one game on that list I'd be into.

Just an FYI, Target has an exclusive steelbook Back to the Future trilogy set that is still going for $30 (at least my local one does).
Just picked it up, looks sweet.

Re: Gen Chat 9: THE HORROR!
So I watched a playthrough of Halo 5. I need more time to digest it, but I don't like that now
- Spoiler:
- A.I.'s, led by Cortana, are the main enemy.
Exuberant Witness was really cute, though.
