I agree and in many ways, the Wii has really weakened the brand. It's left a stain to many people who got burned by it and no longer trust nintendo. I think using the term casual is too broad, but I was using it just as a familiar point of reference.
Pretty much my point is that E3 pressers can be powerful tools for advertisement and exposure. They're not inherently bad, nor is the Nintendo direct thing. If anything, I could see them complimenting each other. E3 presser for the broad message and exposure and then the directs would appeal to the more invested and interested consumers.
I'm still sticking with my point that the E3 presser is not a bad thing and Nintendo should have used it, especially right now when they're exposure seems to be at an all time low. They rarely do commercials or anything big. I just don't understand why from a business point of view.

Just because they fucked up big in 2012, doesn't mean they shouldn't do E3 pressers anymore. They fucked up even worse in 2008 and came back with two good conferences in 2009 and 2010. 2011 is just ok. One bad conference shouldn't discourage them to do pressers anymore.

And their Nintendo Direct was just underwhelming. I rewatched it on Youtube and it just wasn't the same. Announcing things on a stream like that just isn't as effective. On a stage, you have the crowd reaction, then you have people playing demos, and the whole dynamic is just great.

You can't replicate it on a stream. You think something like Sony's conference last year or Nintendo's conference in 2010 could have been on a stream? No way in hell.

While I do agree that the feeling itself sure is different that I will agree with. Now I'm not saying they stopped there live Conference because of the past 2 they did but there has to be a valid reason behind it. I mean non of us know 100% for sure as to why. Only the Big N can answer that for us. Where it stands right now, I like the Direct way to be fairly honest with ya. It gives a more connection the core gamer fanbase then an E3 presser does. I know that sounds weird but I just got that vibe last year when I watched there ND. Remember though Nintendo was still at E3 and showing off Demos and what not. Its just there Conference that wasn't in a live form. I Remember seeing the reactions on people on NeoGaf last year and It was awesome. The same reaction I would of saw if it had been a live showing. Plus another thing I like about there Directs. Is LIVE FEED from there games. I much rather see that then see a stage demo ether get fucked up on stage or something goes wrong in that sort. Yet overall, I'm not judging people for wanting Nintendo to do a Live Presser, I'm just saying its not needed in order for there games to get the publicity that Nintendo is trying to get out there. Media websites do that for them and it worked last year. Same as it will this year.

Plus the last few years of E3 were so fucking bad. Most demos fuck up and are pre-recorded with someone dumb fuck on stage pretending to play the game. Remember that MW3 opener at Microsoft conference 3 years ago. That was so fucking awful. The guys controller wasn't even turned on nor plugged into anything. Plus the reactions that I remember is when Sony took a stupid stab at making fun of Microsoft for there DRM bullshit. That's it. Everything may get a quite cheer or clap. We will never see an E3 that had a good reaction to the E3 of 05 when Zelda was announced for the GC. E3 is now a fucking joke its own right and not even worth watching anymore. The only reason to watch E3 now, is to watch the amount of FUCK ups that happen on stage. Nintendo included a well in that factor, Anyways off to bed.

Without fail you are almost at least guaranteed a coupon for something, but you might get some of those other goodies as well. Once you craft the badge the cards disappear, but you can level up the badge if you want by collecting all the cards for that badge again
