Movie Discussion Thread
Just got back from the theaters. I thought the movie was very well done, personally. Good time used to make sure all the characters get enough screen time and development and nothing really felt like it dragged. Beautifully shot fight scenes and serious suspense at the end.
Cannot wait to see how they top it.
Re: Movie Discussion Thread
I need to catch up on so many movies. I haven't been able to go to any since I've been up here in college.
Amazing Spider Man 2 is on the top of my list though. I'm very happy you liked it, I thought first ASM was awesome.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread
what bothers me is that none of the trailers talk about the storyline. The story is Seth is a sheep farmer who loses everything because he is a coward and tries to prove he can be tough and brave...
all the trailers talk about are the stupid ways people die for no reason...

Been watching the Star Wars saga since I haven't seen any Star Wars movie in like 7 years. Just starting on Episode III.

If you are going to re-watch A New Hope. I highly recommend you download the Star Wars Revisited. It is such a vast improvement and some scenes are like watching a new version of the film entirely.
Re: Movie Discussion Thread
Already downloading a huge bluray rip of the films, 70gb D:
I'll check that out though!

Totally not PR. I loved it though. The build up was really worth it to that final bout. OMG I was squirming in my seat and the audience totally cheered the final battle!
Re: Movie Discussion Thread
The first time you get a full view of Godzilla was so epic.

I'm seeing it tonight and I'm so fucking excited!!!! And I wasn't expecting Pacific Rim to begin with. To tell you the truth, I don't know what to expect.
I'm guessing this was more awesome than Pacific Rim?

So it's more like a traditional Godzilla movie. Thank jesus. Then consider me very excited for this movie!

I fanboyed out. When
- Spoiler:
- I saw the glowing scales in the smoke, I was like "Omg omg omg omg omg!" and then the glow riding up his back I was literally bouncing in my chair: "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG" and then he did it and I was like "YEAH! YEAH! TAKE THAT BASTARD DOWN!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

GODZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMFG!!!!!! That was so sick! Absolutely loved the movie, it blew the 90s shit film out of the water and stayed true to the Japanese films. Also, it's killing in the box office so hopefully that means we'll get a sequel.
Oh Mazer, I know!!!!! I was freaking out during that part!
The atomic breathe was fucking amazing! It was so blue!!!!!

- Spoiler:
- I loved how they didn't really focus on a crappy plot like they did in the 90s film. They had a nice opening with Bryan Cranston and his story and then his death was really well done. Then they really focused on the monsters after that which is good. No stupid subplot with reporters and bullshit, just straight up military-monster action.
Also I just want to say that I love Godzilla's redesign. I like how he's more muscular and chubby. Thought it looked better than the slimmer look.
And if they make a sequel I hope we'll get to see a return to some classic monsters like Rodan.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread
So I got something to say about Godzilla.
- Spoiler:
- It was essentially Man of Steel with giant monsters. XD
Godzilla/Superman fights against his own kind(Kryptonians/other kaiju) and fuck up the human's world. Then Godzilla get's up after the fight, walks to the ocean, but stops before jumping it. Roars all cool-like (fucking showoff), and leaves without giving a single fuck about the puny humans. xD

RIGHT!?!
That ending was just perfect. Godzilla barely acknowledged that the humans even existed. We are literally just a bunch of insects to him so he's just like "Boo ya bitch. Proved why I am alpha. I am awesome. Time to leave. PEACE!"
Re: Movie Discussion Thread
I liked it, but I have many gripes with it. chief among them being the MUTO.
- Spoiler:
- Why the fuck is their main attack an emp? This was a glaring plothole for me, since in nature there are no animals that would succumb to emp and it is essentially only useful against the humans' technology.
They can clear this up in 2 ways, either make it so that in the era that these creatures come from, there were some were susceptible to emp strikes. Or 2, the MUTO were actually alien creatures meant to soften up the humans for conquest, by knocking out their technology.
That second point is my prefered for this other gripe, why did Godzilla chase and destroy these creatures? There was speculation that he was the alpha predato and was hunting them, but if that's the case, why didn't he eat them, and 2, that being the last of their kind, thus his food source, now he's doomed.
On the other hand, if the MUTO were alien and Godzilla recognized this instinctively, then it would be reasonable to see why he just straight up destroyed them.
Essentially my problem with this movie is that it felt like set up for further movies without answering anything for the audience. Actually, scratch that, it felt like a pilot for a tv series. An after credit scene showing aliens pissed off that their MUTO were defeated would have solved this and been extra awesome as set up for future movies.
