Evil triumphs over good like it did in Sinister. Sinister's ending was more satisfying though whereas this (cleverly) loops into the way the whole thing began but feels empty as a result, probably intentionally.
I need to see it. My friend said Oculus was pretty lousy.
I just finished Puppetmaster 1. I liked it. It has a lot gore/body count but it was entertaining ^_^
Going to watch Puppermaster 2 soon.

I have just started the Puppetmaster franchise. I love the stop-motion and the fact you can get so much emotion out of the little guys ^-^
1 and 2 are pretty entertaining. Going to watch 3 tomorrow.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread
Interstellar.
Overall, it was pretty good but extremely inconsistent. Great effects of course, and some of the main plot beats are very well done and surprising. Dialogue, however, is excruciatingly dull and cliché (and there's a lot of it), and never resembles actual human speech (it's like listened to some smart ass recite stuff he read off Wikipedia). As a result, Characters are weak and mechanical and some of the emotional scenes are really ham-fisted and mawkish (though there is one that's fantastic and actually ties into the whole space travel premise really well). Much like Dark Knight Rises, the film tries to do way too much and just feels bloated and messy in end. Nolan really needs to start editing his scripts to make them more compact and remove unnecessary chaff, but with his level of success now, I doubt that'll ever happen. It's the ultimate irony that so many people champion him as the provider of smart blockbusters when most of the time he treats the audience like idiots who can't figure anything out for themselves.

I am sure he does that because of how many people were confused by Inception. Seriously, everyone I knew told me to see it several times because it made no sense the first time they saw it.
Re: Movie Discussion Thread
My main problem with his films are how pretentious they tend to be; still enjoyable mind you, but pretentious none the less.

I think that's because roughly the first hour of Inception is literally just a huge info dump, with almost no pacing whatsoever. There's so much information being given all at once that it's hard for people to keep up. The plot itself isn't actually complex, just how the dreams work. It was very annoying to see people say you needed to be smart to get Inception, when all you needed to do was just listen to the characters tell you everything.

Again....I don't get the whole "pretentious" argument...examples please?
Fun and entertaining slasher flick and a good sequel to the original ^_^ Here's hoping for a 3rd!

It is hard to put in words, but generally speaking most of his movies tend to raise the stakes by shoving them down your throat in a way that contradicts the rest of the movie.-Mazer wrote:Again....I don't get the whole "pretentious" argument...examples please?Koenig wrote:My main problem with his films are how pretentious they tend to be; still enjoyable mind you, but pretentious none the less.
What movies have you seen that I can compare to? I don't want to spoil.

Re: Movie Discussion Thread
Oddly enough, both of those movies are opposite ends of the spectrum in regards to what I am trying to get at, but to summarize the feeling I get from most of his movies; take scenes from Inception and crop them into the Batman movies without any context or reason.

All 3 of them have usually 2 segments that are seriously hardcore and others that range from good to decent. Except that HORRIBLE serial killer invisble one in the first film.
